Having spent many happy years fishing with Adventure in the early 70's I decided to re-tackle up and start again.

On Wednesday 22/7/09 in a swim between Broad  Oak Bridge and the By-pass bridge I hit into a shoal of bream

whilst fishing sweetcorn for tench and carp.

I took out a 3lb bream and had many bites. Around 5pm my rod took off from my rod rest and I hit a very big carp

but unfortunately there is a snag near the towpath and lost it.

I tried the swim again and took out the attached photo of the bream.
It weighed in at 5 1/2 lb but as I am still tackling up I didn't have a keep net so had to let it go.

I think with lighter tackle, some groundbait and fished casters, maggots, redworms, or sweetcorn

should take out (barges permitting) some very big bream.

The shoal came back time and time again but I missed hundreds of bites.
