Canal Repairs In Progress
Due to a number of breaches to the banks of the canal
in the Dogmersfield stretch, please be aware that the BCA is carrying out
repair works in that area, and the works will continue for around ten weeks.
The canal has been “dammed” between Double Bridge and
Crookham Wharf (Chequers Bridge) in Dogmersfield. This is likely to cause low water levels in
the canal probably as far as Ash Wharf (Lock 29).
The work is badly needed, so please be patient. All should
be back to normal by the start of the new season (June 16th 2010).
Closed Season
Please note that, as in every
year, the canal is closed for fishing between 15th March and 15th
June inclusive. This is to allow safe
and peaceful spawning time for the fish.
Head Bailiff Needed
We still have a vacancy for a Head Bailiff (and a
Match Secretary) on the BCAA Committee.
This involves organising and managing the team of BCAA
bailiffs on the canal, and is a key role on the Committee. If you are interested in helping, or you know
somebody who is interested, please get in touch.
Contact Jeff Bunch (outgoing Head Bailiff), on
01252-326421.
